Barry Stewart Builders are one of the leading providers of commercial & residential construction in Southland. In-house architectural design, certified Passive Houses and services through their eHaus alliance are just some of the many services offered by Barry Stewart Builders.
As part of their drive to fulfil and exceed their clients’ expectations, Barry Stewart Builders reached out to WM Environmental to develop a tailored Environmental Management System (EMS) framework and associated documentation based on fundamentals of the ISO14001:2015 Standard.
Increasingly Barry Stewart Builders clients have been requesting documentation during the pre-qualification, tender and project management phases to demonstrate how environmental effects would be managed during the construction phase (e.g. Noise and Vibration Management Plans). Recognising the demand from their clients as well as their drive to operate at best practice level, the Environmental Management System developed by WM Environmental demonstrates to stakeholders that Barry Stewart Builders take a proactive approach to environmental management and compliance. The environmental management framework is designed to assist the team with identifying and managing environmental risks, ensuring regulatory requirements (e.g. Resource Consent conditions) and upskilling staff members around environmental controls.
Because the framework was tailored specifically for Barry Stewart Builders, WM Environmental were able to integrate a large portion of the EMS into Barry Stewart Builders health and safety system, including using their existing database to capture and manage environmental risks and training material. We have a key strength of understanding the requirements of implementing and managing an EMS on an on-going basis, and accordingly are focussed on delivering a framework which is streamlined and effective.
Key Services Provided:
